Happy New Years

Happy New Years everybody!

My New Years Eve was pretty un eventful, chilled and went to bed early and got some good sleep. I got up real early though to get some training in.

I woke up today at 5a to hit the rollers. Made/drank some coffee, ate a small bowl of oatmeal and rode in place for 2 hours. Fun stuff.

After that work out, we had our traditional Japanese New years breakfast. Its called Ozoni which is a soup with a carrots, daicon radish, Konnyaku, chicken and mochi in it.

Then I was off on the bike again. I headed out to Sells park to ride the trails. It was cold but perfect mtb weather. I rode Rockhouse to Strouds where I met a group of people for a new years ride. AW, Burke, Marco, Mike Brown, Jim Shultz, Joey, Mac, Pete and Meredith were there. We took the Lake trail to Sundown, rode sundown, hit some new trail that connects to Thunder Bunny and rode that back to the parking lot. I had to ride back to Sells and took the Athens Trail back in. A good 2:40 ride. I have been craving really greasy food lately so I stopped over to Burger King on the way home and got a Double Angry Whopper. I know its not the best thing in the world to eat but it just tasted so good.

I then took a nap and when I woke up it was dinner time. Ate dinner and watched USC destroy Penn State and it was back on the bike. I don't know why I've had all this motivation to just ride the rollers and sit in my own sweat but I guess its good for my training. My legs actually feel good. Or maybe they are so shot and i'm just used to the feeling. But anyway, my legs are the least of my worries because I've developed a nice saddle sore and been using chamois cream like its going out of style. I think its the new saddle (Selle San Marco Regal) I'm trying out and rubs me wrong.

I knocked off another 2hrs. Total for the day is 84.99 miles at 6 hours and 40 minutes. Not too bad for a January day in Ohio. Total on the week is somewhere around 12 hours.

Maybe I'm awesome, maybe I'm crazy, maybe its the Ultimate Cyclist CD I've been listening to for the past several weeks (review on that later).
